Learn to manage your AMS ads to make sure you are getting the best result and making money from your books!
I didn’t take the time to type this out in blog form. You’ll just have to watch the video. Managing you AMS ads is a flexible (for me anyway) process. Lot of it comes down to intuition and common sense. I don’t use spread sheets, or complicated mathematical formulas. At the end of the month, if your advertising bill is less than your income, you are doing all right. Use this process and continue to tweak those ads until you get the best possible ROI.
William,
This is amazing! I have two ads up following your principles. Your tweaking system is easy to follow, unlike other things I’ve read. Here are some initial observations:
1. Most people who give advice on AMS ads are promoting something they’re trying to sell, either a book or course. (Nothing wrong with that. Go, capitalism!) However, you have proven to me that many of the “pain points” they use are slowly becoming obsolete. (Example: Amazon’s relatively new proficiency at keyword suggestions and automatic targeting.)
2. Facebook is the opposite of AMS. You said it. I second it. I have experience with Facebook ads for a different business. My biggest fear about AMS was that, like Facebook, they would go to my maximum every day without caring whether anything was working or not. It’s obvious from my two ads that AMS is a partner, not a vendor. Like you said, I’m finding it hard to get AMS to spend my money. That’s a good thing. That tells me that they have a stake in my success seeing as they’re the ones actually selling my products. That is a world of difference. (Besides, I hate giving Facebook a penny. So this is great news!)
Thank you again.
It’s true that so many of the people giving advice on AMS are giving old advice. Their information is two or three years old and they haven’t bothered to explore the improved systems. But Amazon is a savvy sales channel. They want to sell books and they are always working to improve their marketing systems. Sometimes that backfires, but more often than not it works well for the sellers. Glad this helped you out. Looking forward to the results.
This is fabulous! So useful and confidence building for me as a rookie. I will now go back and try again.
It’s good to see a video from an author who understands how AMS Ads work. It’s not only about ROI, but that’s critical, of course. It’s also about visibility, and if someone sees your ad but doesn’t buy or even click, then your book and your name may subconsciously register.
I’m currently running two hundred ads on Amazon UK and doing well. It needs good analysis though to know when to let an ad run which you clearly understand.
